Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the support provided to a person who may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisis. 


This certificate course has been developed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada and Mental Health First Aid Canada.

Mental Health First Aid - Basic In-Person

Mental Health First Aid - Standard (Blended Face-toFace)

Mental Health First Aid - Standard (Blended Virtual)

    MHFA - Basic - In-Person facilitation - 12 hours (1.5 days).  Minimum of 10 participants and Maximum of 25 participants.  Course Details:
    • Increased awareness of signs and symptoms of the most common mental health problems
    • Decreased stigma related to mental health
    • Increased confidence interacting with individuals experiencing a mental health problem or crisis
    • Increased help actually provided to individuals in crisis or experiencing a mental health problem

    *NEW* MHFA - Standard - F2F (face-to-face) facilitation - 2 hours of self-directed learning PLUS 7 hours (one full day) of live face-to-face facilitation.  Minimum of 10 participants and Maximum of 25 participants.  Course Details: Recognize signs that a person may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisisHave conversations that encourage a person to:
    • Talk about declines in their mental well-being
    • Discuss professional and other supports that could help with recovery to improved mental well-being
    • Reach out to these supports
    Assist in a mental health or substance use crisis.  Use MHFA actions to maintain one’s own mental well-being.

    MHFA - Standard - Virtual facilitation -  2 hours of self-directed learning PLUS 2 (3.5 hrs) live virtual facilitation.  Minimum of 10 participants and Maximum of 15 participants.  Course Details:  Recognize signs that a person may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisisHave conversations that encourage a person to:
    • Talk about declines in their mental well-being
    • Discuss professional and other supports that could help with recovery to improved mental well-being
    • Reach out to these supports
    Assist in a mental health or substance use crisis.  Use MHFA actions to maintain one’s own mental well-being.

Explore mental health, combat stigma, and cultivate self-care practices. Develop insights and skills for personal well-being and supporting others. Join us on this transformative journey.
